Regular price£250.00 Sale priceWoven with intention and tradition, the Manumaya Picnic Blanket is an outdoor essential - soft to touch, lightweight yet robust, withstanding many washes, it is perfect for many uses long afternoons under the sun, seaside picnics, or impromptu outdoor gatherings.
Manumaya, meaning "woven by hand" in Mayan K'iche', was founded with a mission to sustain indigenous craftsmanship in Guatemala. Each piece is slightly different, every blanket carries the mark of its maker - subtle variations in weave and colour that speak to the human hand behind the thread. The rich earthy colour palettes - drawn from natural dyes - blend effortlessly with any landscape and do not fade or bleed.
Textiles have always held a sacred place in Mayan culture: in fact, in ancient Mesoamerica, certain fabrics were considered so valuable that they were used as currency, traded alongside cacao beans and precious stones. Some ceremonial weavings were even believed to contain protective spirits woven directly into the threads. They are pieces to be lived with, loved, and passed on - celebrating a slower way of life, where every thread tells a story.
