The Tuaregs, also known as the 'blue men of the desert' for their association with the iridescent indigo cloth, 'aleshu', are a Berber people of the Sahara Desert. Their nomadic lifestyle and spirit mean that they are constantly on the move, searching for resources to satisfy their needs and maintain the health of their livestock. Today, the Tuareg population continue to practice their distinctive crafts, from masterfully hand-tanning hides in lime and shea butter, to shaping and hammering recycled bronze and copper.
